Glazebrook East Jn to Skelton Jn Line: Cadishead area (Glazebrook and Cadishead)
Cadishead viaduct carries the post-1893 alignment over the Manchester Ship Canal; it is in poor condition, and access to it is prevented by rows of containers on each side. There was also a three-span steel viaduct just to the east, this has been removed completely, leaving just one abutment as a reminder. Also, previously unknown to me, there are remains of the original 1873 viaduct over the River Mersey - which now flows along the Ship Canal in this area. Further west are the station site at Cadishead and the junction with the Cheshire Lines Committee main line at Glazebrook.
