A first and very enjoyable trip to Israel for me, based on the PTG Tours' "Railways of Israel" Enthusiast tour in March and April 2022. I was able to travel over all the available passenger lines in Israel, and most of the freight-only lines. Itinerary:
26 March 2022: Home to Netanya (north of Tel Aviv) including flying from Luton to Tel Aviv; 27 March 2022: Starting and finishing in Netanya using scheduled service trains;
28 March 2022: Netanya to Be'er Sheva with a PTG charter train; 29 March 2022: Be'er Sheva to Tel Aviv with a PTG charter train;
30 March 2022: Tel Aviv to Haifa with a PTG charter train; 31 March 2022: Starting and finishing in Haifa using scheduled service trains;
1 April 2022: Starting and finishing in Haifa using scheduled service trains, but with a bus to Tel Aviv for the final overnight; 2 April 2022: Tel Aviv to Home including flying to Luton.
Please use this map to aid navigation through these photos around the country.
For the days using scheduled service trains, the tour participants used the local smart card "Rav Kav" tickets, loaded with relevant all-line or local day tickets and paid for by PTG as part of the package.
NOTE: there is inconsistency in the 'transliteration' between Hebrew and English for many place names in Israel. Names adopted in this gallery generally correspond to those in official Israel Railways documentation.
