Looking down from the embankment of the post-1893 Ship Canal Railway Deviation No.4 on to remains of the original pre-1893 alignment and viaduct over the River Mersey. There are the remains of two arches here which were on the south (Cheshire) side of the river Mersey. The viaduct consisted of a single girder span over the river itself, with a number of stone arches on either side.
