Giurgiuleşti is in the south west corner of Moldova, sandwiched between Ukraine and Romania. In this view looking west, the Prut river bridge can be seen to the left, this is the border between Romania and Moldova; dual gauge tracks cross this bridge. All tracks in this view are broad gauge except the one I am standing on and the two far right which form a head shunt, these are standard gauge. To the right is the line through Moldova towards Cahul, only opened on this section in 2008.
