Looking northwards over the station at Bar. The present standard gauge line to Podgorica, opened in 1959, passes through the mountains in a long tunnel; the predecessor 750 mm gauge line to Virpazar, open from 1908 to 1960, crossed the same mountains in a very circuitous and steeply graded manner.
