In the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca in Vitoria stands the monument commemorating the victory of the Duke of Wellington, commanding British Spanish and Portuguese troops, over Joseph Bonaparte (Napoleon Bonaparte's brother) on 21/06/1813, so ending the Peninsular War and the Spanish War of Independence.
