To the right, RENFE AVE class 112 set 043 is in bay platform 2 at Ourense, ready to work train AVE 5382, the 16:25 departure to Madrid-Chamartín. I could have caught an earlier train to Madrid but 5382 is one of only a small number of workings into or out of standard gauge 25 kV bay platforms 1 and 2 at Ourense. These run on the dual gauge section from Ourense to Taboadela then bypass the gauge changer there.
To the left, the tracks are broad gauge and wired at 3 kV dc. Note the signs, which indicate the voltage change to 25 kV a short distance along the line towards Taboadela.
