The eastern (Madrid end) route divergence at Ourense taken from the road overbridge. Left to right: two broad gauge tracks to Monforte de Lemos (presently closed for engineering works); broad gauge depot access tracks; broad gauge to Taboadela; standard gauge to Taboadela. The rightmost two converge just out of view to form a 3-rail dual gauge section as far as the gauge changer at Taboadela some 15 km away. All tracks here are electrified at 3 kV dc except for the rightmost track which is electrified at 25 kV 50 Hz; the broad gauge track towards Taboadela has a voltage change from 3 kV to 25 kV just before the convergence with the standard gauge track.
