Manchester Metrolink tram 1005 stands at the Eccles stop on 24 May 2003. 1005 is one of only three "Phase 1" trams that are permitted to work on the "Phase 2" Eccles line, the others being 1010 and 1015; these have been modified to suit the larger amount of on-street running on this route compared with the Altrincham and Bury lines.

Like all Phase 1 vehicles, this tram contains equipment designed by me whilst working for Alstom at Manchester; later, whilst working at Preston, I was involved in the design of some of the Eccles line modifications.
