"Daniel Adamson" has completed its trip around the northern Liverpool docks and will now enter the River Mersey using Gladstone Lock. Gladstone Lock was wider, longer and deeper than the Panama Canal locks at the time of the former's opening in the 1920s, but the latter were enlarged in 2016: a new in-river berth for the largest container ships has been built at Seaforth. We were accompanied in the lock by eight tugs belonging to several companies, heading out into the Mersey to assist a number of ships arriving on the imminent rising tide.
