Departure boards for the standard gauge services out of Madrid Puerto de Atocha. Departure areas are segregated into "Planta Baja" (lower floor) and "Planta Primera" (first floor) purely for managing the passenger flows, as the trains all depart from the one level. All are south-facing terminal platforms: a new deep level four-platform through station (Madrid Puerto de Atocha Estación Pasante) is being built to allow through services to Madrid-Charmartín. A temporary single track deep level bypass line (Estación Pasante Bypass) has recently opened, which I travelled over on Sunday 22nd January 2023.
"iryo"trains are new services operated by ILSA (45% owned by Italian State Railways). "ouigo" trains are operated by a RENFE/SNCF joint venture.
