(main text) The Via Verde del Guadiana is a route that connects the town near the La Isabel mine with the Port of La Laja, following the route of the old railway line and very close to the left bank of the river. There are almost 17 kilometers, in which the first ones have a slight upward slope, but are very accessible even if you have a mobility disability. In its route, well signposted and delimited, there are the remains of the old town of Sardön and the town of La Isabel and it has three rest areas: one next to the town of Sardon; another, before the Charco del Lobo bridge and, a last one, upon reaching Puerto de La Laja. The route takes approximately 3.5 hours and it is recommended to bring water and food, as there are no sources. To get there, from El Granado, take the local road towards the Chanza reservoir and follow the road signs. More information at www.elgranado.es This area is also included in the Guadiana Nature Trail, a long path that runs along the river from its source in the Lagunas de Ruidera, in Ciudad Real, to its mouth in Ayamonte, in 44 stages. Along with this, a Cross-border Route has been launched to, along some 63 kilometers, travel through the towns of San Bartolomé de la Torre, El Almendro, Villanueva de los Castillejos, El Granado, Puerto de La Laja, barracks house Canaveral and Pomarao. Part of the route runs along the Via Verde del Guadiana and the rest runs along livestock tracks and forest paths.
