Coimbra station (sometimes known as Coimbra-A) was originally part of a through route to Serpins, closed in 2009/2010 as part of a plan to convert the line to the Metro Mondego, though this has since been abandoned. Now only a couple of terminal platforms remain as the stub of the short branch from Coimbra-B station on the Lisboa - Porto main line, and even this may soon close. A bus replacement is planned. The PTG tour is seen here with Comboios de Portugal (CP) class 1400 diesel locomotive 1461 about to return the tour to Coimbra-B.
