Ano Liosia is the terminus of suburban trains on the line from Athína where it meets the line from Athens Airport towards the Peloponnese. I had an hour here for exploring. A short walk away is the former metre gauge route between Athína and the Peloponnese; as usual for Greece the tracks are basically intact though rather overgrown. One track is dual gauge as it carried standard gauge freight traffic for a while. The metre gauge "Piraeus, Athens and Peloponnese Railway", opened in 1882. This section of metre gauge was duplicated by the standard gauge suburban network in 2005, and closed in 2011 due to the Greek financial crisis. This view is looking towards the Peloponnese.
