Approaching from the Garston Channel of the River Mersey, the entrance lock to the Stalbridge Dock is visible. The high state of the tide meant that both sets of gates at the entrance lock were open. Nowadays the three docks here at Garston (North Dock, Old Dock and Stalbridge Dock) are accessed through the one lock, but historically there were several entrance locks.
