Just south of the station at Pola de Lena, the formation of the new high speed line southwards towards León can be seen heading straight on, with the present route over the Pajares pass heading left - already partly realigned. The latter may remain open for a few km for the Asturias Cercanías line 1 service to Puente de Los Fierros - I came here on a short working from Gijón / Oviedo that terminated in a bay platform, and will return to Oviedo on a through working. I also came through here in the morning on a fast train from Madrid.
