Oberpfalzbahn railcars VT39 + VT35 stand in the bay platform at Passau Hbf waiting to work train P17 to Freyung. An ÖBB railcar and a German ICE share the station. The scenic branch to Freyung is a re-opening and is operated on behalf of Iltztalbahn, but only sees services at weekends and bank holidays.
