Irlam's disused station building, platform side. Fortunately it was not demolished, it has been rebuilt as a bar and restaurant. Prior to 1893, when Railway Deviation No.5 was opened to cross over the Manchester Ship Canal, the line ran at a lower level on the far side of the building. The kink in the tracks in the distance marks where the new route deviated from the original route.
