Looking westwards up Hopton incline. This incline was eased from about 1 in 8 to 1 in 14 in around 1877, which enabled locomotives to take over from the previous winding engine. This was reportedly the steepest stretch of conventional, adhesion-worked standard gauge railway running line in the UK.
