Looking westwards from the the footbridge connecting Devon Road and Parsonage Road in Flixton, along the Cheshire Lines Committee railway between Manchester Central and Liverpool Central via Warrington Central. The original 1873 alignment was to the right where the trees are. The present route is Manchester Ship Canal Railway Deviation No.5, opened in 1893 to take the line over the Ship Canal between here and Irlam. The Canal bridge is visible in the distance.
