Looking eastwards, the trackbed has widened out here to what would have been a fan of sidings, constructed to serve Partington Gasworks. I would say that this bridge would have been built at the same time as the Gasworks and its railway connections, and crosses a wide service road. The bridge parapet bears the owner reference "DfT WJP1 9B", WJP1 being the Engineer's Line Reference for the route (Woodley Jn to Partington). The remains of Partington station are just a short distance behind the camera.
