MŽ (Makedonski Železnici, Macedonian Railways) EMU 412-059 etc. stands at Skopje station in the pouring rain on 9 May 2004 ready to work train 2902, the 15:22 to Tabanovci. These four-car 25 kV 50 Hz units work some of the local services on the electrified main line north and south of Skopje. They are identical to units working in Serbia (around Beograd) and Montenegro (around Podgorica). Skopje is a depressing station, particularly in the rain, with minimal cover over the platforms as can be seen. It must rank as the least inspiring station in any European capital city.
