While out on a cycle ride, I saw a ship passing westwards through Latchford Locks on the Manchester Ship Canal, so I decided to follow it to take some photographs. Though I've seen a number of ships on the canal, this was the first time I had the opportunity to follow one for a distance.
The Ship was the Oil/Chemical Tanker "Stolt Cormorant", deadweight 5509 tonnes, returning from unloading at Irlam, having carried a load from Antwerpen the previous day.
Significant local traffic jams are caused in Warrington when a ship passes along the canal, as there is only one fixed bridge.
