This trip was based around the PTG "Great Bulgarian Track Bash 4" trip, which changed into a "Bulgaria, Northern Greece and Turkey" trip due to difficulties in planning the original route. I was reasonably happy as I got more required track out of the revised trip!

|Greek State Railways (OSE) diesel locomotive A507 at Pythio. This is the junction between the route from Alexandroupolis and the pre-1971 route between Istanbul and Bulgaria. A507 continued to Svilengrad in Bulgaria.|

|Due to a failure, we spent more than three hours at Pythio. During the wait, we spotted this Praying Mantis wandering around on the ballast. Here it is seen scaling the sheer climb of one of the platform faces.|
