Four days in Germany, mainly to take part in the two days of IBSE railtours around Osnabrück. Two nights in Osnabrück and one night in Düsseldorf.
My flight from Manchester on the Friday morning 25th was delayed by a defective radio on the plane, so my plans for that day came to nothing. On the Monday I used train ICE818 to travel over the curve at Caltex, west of Frankfurt, which leads onto the Köln - Frankfurt Schnellfahrstrecke so can only be done by high speed trains - engineering works is diverting some trains away from Frankfurt am Main Flughafen Fernbahnhof. I finished off Monday by travelling from Stolberg (Rheinland) Hbf to Alsdorf-Annapark, a comparatively recent opening.

The main tour train consisted of diesel locomotive V65 001 and three 4-wheel carriages belonging to Osnabrücker Dampflokfreunde e.V., and made an extensive visit to the Hafen area in Osnabrück before visiting the Osnabrücker Dampflokfreunde's base at Osnabrück-Piesing. Here a short ride on a former coal loading branch was taken, followed by a visit to the nearby Industrial Museum and a trip on the nearby Feldbahn. Afterwards further branches were visited east of Osnabrück.
